Private jet charter to Andorra

Nestled in the Pyrenees between France and Spain, this tiny independent principality is famous for its luxurious ski resorts and duty-free shopping. The landlocked microstate is one of the smallest countries in the world, but packs a punch when it comes to character and welcomes a whopping 10 million visitors a year. Experience it all: request a private jet charter qoute from Air Charter Service.

Jointly ruled by the French leader and Spanish Bishop of Urgell until its government was established in 1993, today Andorra is a member of the United Nations and enjoys a special relationship with the EU. The country has partial tax haven status, which draws shoppers eager to snap up duty-free bargains in its upscale malls, luxury boutiques and jewellers. Ensuring visitors can take full advantage; shops stay open late and only close for four days a year. Easily accessible from the main resorts, capital city Andorra La Vella is the country’s shopping hub with over 2,000 outlets.

Retail therapy aside, Andorra is a fantastic year-round destination. Visit during the winter months for excellent skiing opportunities – the season runs from December to April, with an average elevation of 2,000m above sea level. Main ski areas Grandvalira and Vallnord offer a range of runs to suit all abilities as well as challenging cross-country trails. The highest resort, Pas de la Casa, sits at a dizzying 2,100m and boasts some great skiing as well as the country’s best après-ski in its lively bars and restaurants.

During the warmer summer season, skiing gives way to adrenalin-pumping mountain bike adventures and leisurely hikes through the breathtaking Pyrenean scenery. Scenic stop-offs include the Tristaina Lakes in Ordino and the lush Sorteny Valley. For the ultimate challenge, hike to the summit of the country’s highest peak, Coma Pedrosa.

Andorran cuisine is heavily influenced by neighbouring Spain. Visitors can feast on mouth-watering tapas and try the hearty national dish, Escudella, a warming meat, vegetable and carb-laden stew. In a nod to the country’s French heritage, snails and a crème brûlée-style dessert are also popular. To taste authentic local dishes, head to one of the country’s traditional bordas –family-run stone-built restaurants serving beautifully cooked typical mountain fare. A range of international cuisines is served in the bustling resorts, including Italian, Mexican and Asian.
