Fly to the wilderness by private jet charter for World Wildlife Day

The wilderness can feel far away from our daily lives, especially for city-dwellers. Be inspired to reconnect with nature on World Wildlife Day this March.

Each year on March 3, 2018, the global community celebrates our planet’s incredible biodiversity. Since its inception by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013, World Wildlife Day has become the most important global event honoring plants and animals. Contact us today to charter a private jet and witness rare wildlife in person.

Malaysian Borneo

Borneo is home to a stretch of tropical forest dubbed “Asia’s last great rainforest” by the World Wildlife Fund. This forest is home to some of the most incredible biodiversity left on earth, including the endangered Sumatran rhino, Borneo pygmy elephant and Bornean orangutan.

Your best chance of getting close to the awe-inspiring orangutans is by visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center in Sandakan. The center opened as a sanctuary for baby orangutans in 1964 and now covers 10,000 acres of forest. There are as many as 80 orangutans living in the sanctuary today, which are re-released after being taught how to survive in the wild.

There are many hotels in Sepilok, but guests looking for luxury should stay at the gorgeous Shangri-La Rasa Ria in Kota Kinabalu, an easy 40-minute private jet charter from Sepilok. This means you can spend the day with the orangutans before spending the night in plush five-star surroundings.

Ranthambhore National Park, India

This year’s World Wildlife Day is dedicated to big cats. Big cats are some of the most beloved creatures in the animal kingdom, but their numbers are declining. In fact, tiger populations have decreased by 95% over the past 100 years.

Thankfully, it is still possible to spot a tiger in the wild if you go to the right place. Ranthambhore National Park, situated in the north of India and about 90 miles southeast of Jaipur, is a wildlife sanctuary home to leopards, jackals and as many as 60 Bengal tigers. Visitors here can embark on a full-day safari with a guide in search of the elusive tigers.

Fringing this national park is the luxurious Aman-i-Khas, which features 10 sumptuous safari-style tents with sleek, contemporary furnishings. The plush beds, marble bathtubs and butler service make for an incredibly stylish “glamping” experience.

Kruger National Park, South Africa

South Africa is the perfect destination for wildlife-lovers, offering awesome animal sightings straight out of a nature documentary. The most coveted sighting is the “Big Five”, which includes the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and Cape buffalo. Along the way, visitors will encounter many other creatures including hippos, cheetahs and giraffes.

There are many nature reserves in South Africa, but Kruger National Park offers the most plentiful sightings and is therefore often crowded. For a more intimate experience, head a short distance southwest of Kruger to the private Thornybush Game Reserve, which allows off-roading for more secluded sightings.

In addition to the wildlife, South Africa is home to some of the most luxurious safari camps in the world. One of the most fabulous is Royal Malewane, nestled in the Thornybush Game Reserve, which offers chic decor, exceptional service and a fabulous spa.

Galapagos Islands

As the birthplace of Charles Darwin’s groundbreaking evolutionary theory, the Galapagos Islands are an unmissable destination for science and wildlife lovers. Set off the western coast of Ecuador, the islands are home to several species that exist nowhere else on earth, such as land and marine iguanas, giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies and colorful Sally Lightfoot crabs. To appreciate the rare flora and fauna found here, hire a naturalist guide who can take you to the different islands and explain what makes these animals so special.

After a long day exploring, unwind at the luxurious and eco-friendly Pikaia Lodge on Santa Cruz. To get there, charter a private jet to Seymour Airport on Baltra followed by a short ferry crossing and a scenic taxi ride.

Rwanda

There are many excellent destinations for wildlife safaris across Africa, but Rwanda is unlike any other. Along with Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, this is one of the few countries where the endangered mountain gorilla still thrives.

While in Rwanda, guests can join thrilling treks to spot these great apes in the wild. The treks range from simple walks to more challenging hikes, but being in the presence of these gentle gorillas makes the trek worthwhile. Stay at Bisate Lodge, a luxurious, contemporary property located a short drive from the gorilla trekking.

Contact us to arrange your private jet charter into the wild to celebrate World Wildlife Day. Traveling privately means you can skip the transfers and long drives, focusing instead on being at one with nature and the wild.
